Dr Joanna Moore

Dr Joanna Moore is a Consultant Hepatologist, Gastroenterologist, and Specialist in General (Internal) Medicine. She provides comprehensive diagnostic and clinical care for patients with a wide array of internal medical conditions, specialising in complex liver disorders and gastrointestinal health. She leads multi-disciplinary medical services, including dedicated care pathways for young adults and patients with metabolic liver conditions, ensuring each individual receives tailored, compassionate support.

In her clinical practice, Dr Moore manages acute liver failure, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, haemochromatosis, autoimmune liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, hepatitis, ascites, and polycystic liver disease. She performs diagnostic endoscopies (gastroscopy) and fibroscans to assess liver health, while coordinating medical evaluations for patients requiring liver transplantation. Her thorough approach to general medicine focuses on accurate diagnosis, early intervention, and structured management plans designed to improve patient outcomes.

Dr Moore qualified from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 2004. She subsequently completed higher specialist training in general internal medicine, gastroenterology, and advanced hepatology. She earned a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Edinburgh following her research into acute liver failure and stem cell therapy for cirrhosis. She holds postgraduate qualifications in medical education and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Moore contributes to clinical research, national guidelines, and the education of future Doctors, receiving national awards for her contributions to patient care.
