Dr Joanna Ledingham

Dr Joanna Ledingham is a highly accomplished Consultant Rheumatologist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal conditions. Her clinical practice focuses on achieving early diagnosis, reducing symptoms, and protecting long-term joint health. Dr Ledingham works collaboratively with patients to design individualised management plans that empower individuals to manage their condition effectively and maintain an active quality of life.

Her clinical interests include early inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, auto-immune diseases, and bone health management. Dr Ledingham utilises targeted clinical assessments and diagnostic techniques, such as joint ultrasound, to evaluate musculoskeletal conditions accurately. Her practice encompasses the full spectrum of modern therapeutic options, including the prescription and monitoring of disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and biologic therapies. Beyond clinical consultations, she has made significant contributions to national healthcare quality improvement, having served as Clinical Director for national arthritis audits and as President of the British Society for Rheumatology.

Dr Ledingham completed her undergraduate medical education obtaining a Bachelor of Medical Science (B Med Sci) and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS). She later undertook higher academic research to award a Doctor of Medicine (DM). She achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and was subsequently elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). Dr Ledingham remains actively engaged in professional leadership and governance, holding key fellowship and council roles within the Royal College of Physicians and the British Society for Rheumatology.
