Dr. Jennifer Forbes

Dr. Jennifer Forbes is a highly experienced GP and specialist in Addictions Medicine with a background in mental health, chronic pain, and medicinal cannabis. A graduate of the University of Dundee, she earned her MBChB in Medicine and a BMSc in Medical Psychology. Dr. Forbes began her career in anaesthetics before transitioning to general practice, and she has held key roles in mental health services in Australia. She spent 17 years with a Community Addictions Service, serving as Clinical Lead and contributing to the development of SIGN chronic pain guidance and Scottish Government MAT standards.

Currently an Associate Medical Director and medicinal cannabis prescriber, Dr. Forbes is dedicated to enhancing patient care and improving access to innovative treatments. She co-founded the Borders Pain Clinic to promote NHS integration and increase cannabis accessibility in Scotland. With extensive expertise in managing complex cases related to chronic pain and addiction, Dr. Forbes is committed to advancing care through evidence-based practice and collaborative healthcare initiatives.
