About Mr Iain Macleod
Mr Iain Macleod is a Consultant Orthopaedic & Upper Limb Surgeon, specialising in all aspects of elbow, shoulder, wrist and hand surgery. With his wealth of experience, Mr Macleod can offer a wide range of treatments including the most up-to-date arthroscopic and open surgical methods. Some of the procedures that Mr Macleod offers include carpal tunnel syndrome treatment, hand surgery for Dupuytren's disease, shoulder replacement surgery, total elbow replacement surgery, wrist arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy and ulnar nerve release surgery.
Mr Macleod obtained his degree in Medicine from St Mary's Hospital in London in 2000, following this he completed basic surgical training and then went on to specialise in Orthopaedics. He undertook specialist Fellowship training at the prestigious Upper Limb Unit in Brisbane, and furthered this with six months of advanced Fellowship training at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. He was later awarded the Watanabe Fellowship training, enabling him to train in the UK with leaders in the field of Shoulder Surgery.
Alongside his extensive training, Mr Macleod has been an active researcher and has published a number of papers about upper limb surgery; he has presented his work at conferences internationally. He is a member of several professional organisations such as the British Orthopaedic Association, British Elbow and Shoulder Society, British Society for Surgery of the Hand, Medical Protection Society and the Royal College of Surgeons.

I had a carpal tunnel decompression. The consultant Mr McLeod was exceptional. He was very patient and explained everything clearly. The op went really well and my hand is recovering well. Post operative appointment as very encouraging
Excellent service (albeit the end of the list!!). The surgery went very well, and within 5 days I could remove the huge dressing, and commence physio. 2 weeks later, I have full movement of the hand and finger and am very pleased with the support from Mr Macleod. Signed off until the next time!!

I attended my first appointment in a high level of pain, and Ian was very thorough in his approach. After a comprehensive investigation, we were unable to determine the root cause, so Ian referred me to other specialists; however, these consultations were also inconclusive. Following further discussion, we decided to proceed with exploratory surgery. This proved to be the best option, as Ian was able to identify the issue and release the affected nerve, fully resolving my problem. I am very pleased with the results and grateful for his proactive approach.
