Ms Gretchen Robertson is an MBACP Accredited Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist practising in North London, the Harley Street area, and online. She is the founder of GR Transpersonal Therapy and works with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, burnout, and major life transitions.
She has a specialist interest in the relationship between emotional wellbeing, chronic stress, and physical health, including health anxiety, psychodermatology, and the psychological impact of long-term health conditions and visible skin concerns.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative, relational, and person-centred, combining transpersonal psychotherapy with evidence-based humanistic and integrative modalities tailored to the needs of each individual. She provides a reflective, psychologically informed therapeutic space that supports emotional resilience, self-awareness, and long-term wellbeing.
Alongside her private practice, Ms Robertson has a longstanding interest in trauma, identity, and compassionate care. During the AIDS crisis in San Francisco, she volunteered with the Shanti Project, supporting individuals affected by serious illness and loss. She also spent many years volunteering with the Association of Jewish Refugees, supporting Holocaust survivors and later generations affected by intergenerational trauma and displacement.
Before moving fully into psychotherapy, Ms Robertson spent many years working within the healthcare and wellbeing sector, collaborating with clinicians and key opinion leaders across medical, dermatology, and integrative health settings. This background continues to inform her interest in the connection between mind, body, stress, and emotional health.
At GR Transpersonal Therapy, she offers individual psychotherapy sessions for adults both in person and online. She is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

When I started my therapy sessions with Gretchen, I had no expectations. I had been to therapy before and assumed it would be a similar experience. Little did I know that this would become such a fundamental journey of self-discovery and understanding. Starting from the beginning, I was able to explore childhood experiences—both positive and challenging—and understand how they have shaped the woman I am today. Gretchen provided a safe and supportive space where I could speak freely about my feelings and experiences, often encouraging me to go deeper in my reflections. Through our sessions, I have gained a much greater understanding of myself. Gretchen is non-judgemental, compassionate, and creates an environment where I felt truly comfortable expressing myself. Although my sessions were online, this did not affect my ability to process my emotions, speak openly, cry, or simply sit with my feelings when needed. Gretchen's active listening skills are exceptional, and her thoughtful approach enabled me to engage fully in the therapeutic process. My second experience with therapy has been a transformative one and has played a significant role in my personal growth. I am incredibly grateful for the support, insight, and guidance I received throughout this journey.
Gretchen was extremely helpful with supporting me to understand more about myself and the things that were affecting me. Gretchen has a very easy going manner which made me feel safe to share personal information and private feelings. I felt encouraged to share and Gretchen’s practical tips to support me with mental health recovery felt personalised and spoke directly to me. I found the whole of my sessions extremely rewarding.
I am in my 33 session and I can see so much progress, improvement and clarity. I am really proud of where we are so far.
Gretchen was kind, warm and understanding. I always felt able to share difficult things with her and would recommend her to anybody struggling with issues in their lives
Gretchen has given me the confidence and self-understanding I've needed to be more focused on the present and less anxious about the future. Her reflective and curious practice has brought me to a point where I no longer need weekly validation/reassurance in order to have a mind that is not plagued by anxiety and sadness. Those feelings are still there, but they are much, much quieter and easier to sit with and face.
Gretchen is a warm, caring professional who seeks to understand the individual and cater to their needs. She is really accommodating and offers fantastic insights. Would strongly recommend to anyone in need of support.
I had an outstanding experience with Gretchen. Her highly attentive and personally tailored approach has left me profoundly changed for the better, all the time very mindful of professional boundaries. I have been with different therapists over the number of years, and I am incredibly grateful to have had chance to work with Gretchen. Sessions with her are the one experience I keep coming back to in my mind. For anyone looking for individually tailored approach, on a number of different topics, coming from a wide array of tactics and options, I would highly recommend Gretchen.
We had a really productive time with Gretchen. She really helped us to understand each other deeply and gave great advice about how to work toward a truly loving relationship. Gretchen was a fantastic listener and offered a lot of insightful perspectives without any judgement.
