Dr Gregory Mellor is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist based in Cambridge at the Royal Papworth Hospital. He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 2004 and has practiced as a consultant at Royal Papworth Hospital since 2017.
In 2013, Dr Mellor undertook research in Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome at St George's, University of London and was awarded a MD (Res) in 2017 for his work. He later completed training in Invasive Electrophysiology and was certified by the European Heart Rhythm Society in 2017.
Dr Mellor has expertise in all areas of general cardiology and treats a wide range of heart rhythm disorders, including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and SVT and implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr Mellor has particular expertise in sports cardiology, including the assessment of athletes with palpitations or collapse and in pre-participation screening of both amateur and professional athletes. Furthermore, Dr Mellor has expertise in the diagnosis and management of genetic heart conditions with a risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
Dr Mellor holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Physicians of London, the British Heart Rhythm Society and the Association of Inherited Cardiac Conditions. He remains an active researcher, having published widely in his field of expertise and has current research interests in genotype-phenotype correlation in inherited arrhythmia syndromes, as well as unexplained cardiac arrest.
