About Dr. Farhan Shahid

Dr Farhan Shahid is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He is a member of the British Cardiac Society (BCS) and the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society (BCIS). He graduated from the University of London and undertook his training in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Swansea. He holds a BSc honours degree in Biomedical Science from Kings College London in additon to his post graduate PhD degree from the University of Birmingham, which focused on Atrial Fibrillation.

Upon completion of his specialist training Dr Shahid was awarded a Fellowship in Complex PCI (coronary artery stenting) at the internationally renowned The Royal Freeman Hospital, Newcastle. He has produced multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and is actively involved in numerous international and national clinical trials. His research interests include microvascular angina, intra coronary cardiac imaging in complex percutaneous intervention, atrial fibrillation and inflammation, and myocardial infarction in the absence of coronary artery disease. Dr Shahid is affiliated with the University of Birmingham teaching undergraduate students, and currently participates in training overseas doctors in percutaneous intervention as part of an international fellowship programme.
