About Dr Faisal Khan
Dr Faisal Khan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. He trained in Medicine at Barts and The London Hospitals, achieving an additional first-class intercalated degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. Dr Khan was awarded the Tallow Chandlers scholarship and the Drapers Prize for academic excellence. Following this, he completed the prestigious North East Thames Academic Foundation Programme and the South London Cardiology Registrar rotation, gaining the NHS innovations award during this period for service improvements.
He undertook cardiovascular research with funding from the British Heart Foundation and gained coronary intervention training at St George's Hospital, King's College Hospital and Barts Heart Centre. He was selected for the highly competitive British Cardiac Society Structural Fellowship, travelling to Bern, Switzerland where he trained for a year, becoming an expert in structural intervention including TAVI, PFO closure and percutaneous edge-to-edge repair techniques.
Dr Faisal Khan's areas of interests include general cardiology, coronary angioplasty for angina, TAVI for aortic stenosis, PFO closure for stroke prevention and mitral edge to edge repair for mitral regurgitation.

Listened to me and my worries and explained the options I had. I asked him to also explain to my son and he took time to do so.
I underwent a new/alien treatment - with minimal difficulty. Dr Faisal was clear. The procedure team were positive with a good atmosphere. And the nursing staff were kind focused and very helpful. I felt good all day. And received useful summaries and guidance at the end. All that was missing was a prize badge for me at the end!
It was a pleasure to meet Dr Khan, having been referred by a fellow consultant, to discuss severe Mitral Valve regurgitation. Taking into account previous heart surgery and the current state of my heart, Dr Khan proposed a repair of the Mitral Valve using a process called MTEER, involving the placing of a Pascal device within the valve.
