Dr Eleni Nikita is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Private Eye Hospital, with specialist expertise in glaucoma and cataract surgery.

Dr Nikita completed her medical degree at the University of Ioannina, Greece in 2004 followed by her foundational ophthalmic training. She became a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmologists in 2010 and received her Certificate of Completion of Training in Ophthalmology from Attikon University Hospital, Greece in 2011.

Dr Nikita later relocated to the UK and completed two glaucoma fellowships, at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. In 2012, she became a Fellow of the International College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK). Eleni later completed her PhD in Experimental Glaucoma Filtration Surgery at the Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece in 2015.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Nikita has pioneered innovative schemes for glaucoma management, both in the community and virtually. She is also an active trainer for both doctors and healthcare professionals

Dr Nikita envisions a future where ophthalmologists collaborate seamlessly to elevate European healthcare systems. As a professional who has been shaped by diverse healthcare environments, she strives to improve the European Glaucoma Society's efforts to build partnerships between ophthalmologists and academics across Europe. Her goal is to gain innovation, develop education, and ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality, evidence-based health care in Europe.
