About

Dr. Zinu Philipose is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with subspecialty training in Liver diseases and works for both the National Health Service and the private sector. Dr. Philipose qualified in Medicine in 1995 and undertook his specialist registrar training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (Liver diseases) training at the South Thames London Deanery, including working in the King's Liver unit (the largest Liver transplant centre in the UK). This training included a period of research at Croydon University Hospital and 2 years of Liver diseases sub-specialty training. He then completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship at St Mark's Hospital, which is a renowned centre for Gastroenterology Academics and a tertiary centre for intestinal failure and Inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Philipose was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist in 2009 at Worthing Hospital. During this period, he was part of establishing several service developments, was for a period the only ERCP endoscopist for the hospital, and was leading the set-up of the newly built ERCP endoscopy room. He then started working at Croydon University Hospital from 2016, with the main focus on setting up the Liver disease services. He successfully set up the Viral Hepatitis Network, and continues to serve as the Hepatology Lead at Croydon University Hospital. He also works at St George's Hospital performing Endoscopic Ultrasound for disorders of the pancreas , gall bladder and the biliary tract. He covers diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies for the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. He has managed all aspects of gastroenterology for more than 10 years at a consultant level, and he has been exposed to and managed patients with a wide variety of gastroenterological and liver disorders. He believes in patient tailored care with the outcome focusing on trying to improve patient well-being and is happy to share his expertise in gastroenterology and liver diseases.
