Tim offers treatment for a range of eye diseases, with a particular focus on the surgical treatment of cataract and vitreoretinal disorders (retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, vitreomacular traction, macular hole), and the medical management of age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy as well as other retinal disorders.
He has over 25 years experience in ophthalmology – more than 14 of them as an NHS and private consultant.
Tim is Professor of Retinal Research at King's College London. He is ranked in the top 0.12% of retinal experts worldwide (based on independent review of publications by Expertscape 2010-2021).
He runs a multi-million pound, international retinal research portfolio, with well over 100 PubMed publications. He leads medical student ophthalmology training at Europe's largest medical school.

Following a medical degree in New Zealand, Tim undertook his ophthalmology training in the UK at St Thomas' and Moorfields Eye Hospitals. He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at King's College Hospital, London in 2006 and won a national award to assume the post of University Senior Lecturer at King's College London in 2011. He was promoted to Professor in 2018.
Tim works as an NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at King's College Hospital, a large teaching hospital in South London. He undertakes cataract surgery and has a sub-specialty interest in macular and retinal disease and vitreoretinal surgery.
He is a Professor in Retinal Research at King's College London, part of the King's Health Partners, the UK's largest Academic Health Science Centre.
