About Dr Sharmishtha Sarkar
Dr Sarmishtha Sarkar is a Consultant Paediatrician with the current NHS base East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. She specialises in community child health and paediatric neurodisability and her areas of interest include Autism diagnosis and medical management, ADHD diagnosis and management, complex neurodevelopmental and neurodisability- motor disorders and epilepsy.
Dr Sarkar graduated from The University of Calcutta, India in 2000 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. In 2005 she attained her membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. In 2013 she completed additional training, Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatrics and Community Child Health in 2013. She is highly educated and experienced; she has been working as a consultant for 7 years.
She is passionate about working with children, she aims to ensure each child's emotional and physical wellbeing is taken into consideration and that they receive high standards of medical care. She has several affiliations and memberships including the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and British association for Community Child Health (BACCH).

Dr Sarkar has made the biggest difference to our family life, helping us to understand and better support our two boys (13 and 9) through their diagnoses of Adhd and Audhd (demand avoidant) - i will forever be indebted to her for her expertise and insights.
Helped to explain the process and understood our situation
I’ve seen Dr Sarkar over the years for Autism and adhd diagnosis. She is thorough and explains things well. She is very understanding and good with children. I always recommend her to anyone seeking assistance.
Both my children were under the care of Dr Sarkar for the last few years and I cannot fault the service. Dr Sarkar was always professional, thorough and kind. She diagnosed my daughters privately as we couldn't wait any longer for an NHS diagnosis due to key stages in the girls' lives. it was the best decision made and best money ever spent. Thanks to the detailed reports we managed to get the girls the help and support they needed and we were also able to understand their differences more as parents. The multidisciplinary team is amazing, one of the most helpful things was the cognitive assessment by Dr Edwards, which described in detail what my daughter struggled with and which were her strongest points. Overall we are really happy with the service and we are forever grateful for all the support, advice and help.

We had a fantastic experience with Dr Sarkar. She is an expert in ADHD and her experience shows in every interaction. She is very engaging and made my son feel comfortable and relaxed in every appointment. She ensured we had prompt access to medication and was thorough in follow up appointment to review progress.
Dr Sarkar has been an incredible support since my son’s diagnosis 8 years ago, both to my son and myself. I feel comfortable to discuss anything with her, she listens carefully and understands our needs. I would highly recommend her and her secretary, Karin. You are in the best hands.
