I saw a dietitian who recommended I see Dr McCartney. She was initially very empathetic and commented that I’d been through the mill. She organised more investigations and explained why she wanted them, talked through the sedation options and listened to my preferences on bowel prep. When these then came back normal it felt like she lost interest. She said my SIBO test was positive despite the lack of double peak, and that no one specialises in SIBO. She prescribed 550mg Rifaximin bid for 10 days which made no difference. I asked for help with my vomiting and she said she only really deals with IBD and to ask the neurogastro she referred me to instead, whom she knew had a 3 month waiting list. She is nice but maybe not as helpful for less straightforward patients / those without IBD. Her referral to a neurogastro led to a diagnosis and successful treatment, and I like that CCL work as a team.
Dr McCartney was warm and understanding, extremely knowledgeable and worked through my assessment smoothly, creating a sense of a conversation rather than a medical exam. She came up with a thorough and reassuring treatment plan. It was a great experience
Dr McCartney is great - really explaining the process and procedures necessary, medications/medicines available.
Great consultation, informative helpful and specific about how to move forward.
I found the nurse who phoned the week before difficult to understand. And frankly she struggled to understand me. But everyone else perfection
Dr McCartney was wonderful , she enabled me to feel more positive about a resolution to my problems. She listened and was very clear in her ideas
