Dr Sandeep Basavarajaiah

Dr Sandeep Basavarajaiah is an experienced consultant cardiologist with clinical interests in arrhythmia, congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and interventional cardiology. He also has a particular interest in sports cardiology and heart failure. During his career, Dr Basavarajaiah has performed more than 2000 percutaneous coronary interventions and supervised specialist registrars for over 600 cases. He is also able to evaluate the cardiovascular system of sportspeople and has assessed over 3,000 athletes using ECG and echocardiogram.

First qualifying in India with his medical degree, Dr Basavarajaiah went on to become a member of the Royal College of Physicians and has trained in prestigious hospitals including Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, and San Raffaelle Hospital, Milan. He also trained under Professor Antonio Colombo, a world-renowned interventional cardiologist, which further developed his expertise in coronary intervention.

Dr Basavarajaiah also has an interest in research and spent time at King's College researching the difference in left ventricular remodelling between athletes of different ethnicities as part of his MD. Since then, he has published numerous articles in medical journals such as 'Heart' and 'Catheter Cardiovascular Intervention'.
