Dr Mikael Porath Petersen is a highly experienced Doctor of Chiropractic with expertise in sports chiropractic. His passion for chiropractic began after a severe back injury that he personally experienced. He graduated from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 1997.
After his graduation, Dr Petersen started working with professional athletes, including the Danish National Football team. He is always prepared to tackle complex cases, and one of his latest projects involved helping an Olympic swimmer with nerve irritation that had reduced her muscle strength. He is confident that his treatment will soon lead the athlete to success.
As a result of his work with professional athletes, Dr Petersen has realised that chiropractic is not just about relieving pain and restoring nerve function. It also serves as a catalyst that enables the body to express its full potential once the spine is free from nerve interference.
His focus in the last decade has shifted towards improving the postural and gait/foot mechanics of the general public. He believes that education is an essential part of his job, which is why he regularly gives health talks to companies, schools, sports clubs, and special interest groups throughout London. Dr Petersen firmly believes that many health problems can be prevented or at least partly prevented through education and lifestyle changes.
Dr Petersen’s bedside manner is often commended, which he attributes to his experience working as a nurse at an elderly care home in Denmark for two years. He continues to attend seminars given by leading chiropractic researchers and practitioners worldwide and develop his skills.
Dr Petersen truly loves his profession and provides high-quality care for his patients. His motto is to be the best doctor of chiropractic he can be, which involves knowing what to do, how to do it, and why to do it.

When I was 20 years old I was involved in a car accident and I had a sideways whiplash, which I didn't receive any treatment for. A few years ago at the age of 75 I started having terrible pain in my neck at night and my wife booked an appointment at Optimal Spine. I met Dr Mikael Porath Petersen, who examined me and I had an xray. We met a few days later and he explained what was wrong with my neck and set up a program to deal with my problem. After following the advised treatment for some weeks the pain went away and I could sleep without pain and also start playing tennis again! I highly recommend The Optimal Spine & Sports Dimension for their treatments. The Doctor and the staff are very professional and so are the facilities and the equipment they use.

Dr. Petersen is a rare Chiropractor in the UK, one who specializes in various areas including Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP) which is one of the main and best techniques for restoring spinal curvature. Few Chiropractors in the UK do this. Also, and importantly, he is led always in his work with patients by X-ray information about them. Dr. Petersen is superbly supported by OJ, his CBP Traction specialist. OJ's skillset is excellent; she is technically highly proficient, very detail-focused which really helps patients with the traction, and also very kind. The Chiswick practice is superbly administered by Maria Lourdes, the Clinic Assistant. Lourdes runs an extremely busy yet orderly ship.

Michael outlined the problem and recommended initially 3 sessions per week. subsequently 2 per week at which point Lockdown occurred. We resumed on 1 per week after Lockdown.

Mikael has a friendly down to earth approach and has a great way of explaining technical conditions and treatments so that’s it’s easy to understand. Also provides good preventative advice. Really happy with the results.

I have one leg shorter than the other which lead to years of painful sciatica and a pronounced limp. Work with Mikael has stopped the sciatic nerve pain and improved my balance and reduced my limp.
