About Dr Maumer Durrani
Dr. Maumer Durrani is a Consultant Rheumatologist with dual accreditation in general medicine and rheumatology. He is head of the rheumatology service for University hospitals of Leicester and regional MSK lead for NIHR Research delivery network (RDN). His postgraduate training was completed at several leading tertiary centres, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital, where he later served as a Consultant Rheumatologist before relocating to Leicester.
Dr. Durrani’s clinical expertise spans a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including back pain, inflammatory arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism, connective tissue diseases, bone disorders, muscle conditions, and osteoarthritis. He has a particular interest in muscle diseases and currently serves as the clinical lead for muscle disorders at University Hospitals of Leicester, where he has established a tertiary-level Myositis Clinic.
He is skilled in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound, which he incorporates into both the diagnostic process and in performing guided joint and spinal procedures, including epidural injections.
Dr. Durrani is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Society for Rheumatology, and the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS).

During the procedure he constantly checked in to ensure I was feeling ok during. What could have been exceptionally painful procedure was done so accurately and professionally by Dr Durrani it was not painful at all. Thank you Dr Durrani.
I met with Dr Durrani with severe inflammation. He didn't rush the appointment and I was able to explain my symptoms and how it made me feel with ease. A diagnosis wasn't rushed and was taken in steps. I have asked to be kept open on my consultations based on how I will feel over the next few weeks. It put me at ease that I wasn't expected to just start on medication. Thank you
The consultant was highly professional, clear and concise in explanation of the issue with my hand, and took my current situation into account to get me in quickly for treatment next week.
I was very impressed with the attention I received. Everything was explained to me before the procedure.
The whole experience was very professional and well organised from when I arrived on the ward to when I left. The Doctor and nurse doing the procedure were very professional but also very caring and took the time to explain everything in detail. They were also very caring towards me which I appreciated as I was a bit nervous.
