About Dr Maumer Durrani
Dr. Maumer Durrani is a Consultant Rheumatologist with dual accreditation in general medicine and rheumatology. He is head of the rheumatology service for University hospitals of Leicester and regional MSK lead for NIHR Research delivery network (RDN). His postgraduate training was completed at several leading tertiary centres, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital, where he later served as a Consultant Rheumatologist before relocating to Leicester.
Dr. Durrani’s clinical expertise spans a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including back pain, inflammatory arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism, connective tissue diseases, bone disorders, muscle conditions, and osteoarthritis. He has a particular interest in muscle diseases and currently serves as the clinical lead for muscle disorders at University Hospitals of Leicester, where he has established a tertiary-level Myositis Clinic.
He is skilled in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound, which he incorporates into both the diagnostic process and in performing guided joint and spinal procedures, including epidural injections.
Dr. Durrani is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Society for Rheumatology, and the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS).

Dr Durrani diagnosed ostio and rheumatoid arthritis in both of my hands. During my first appointment he prescribed medication and explained everything to me in easy to understand detail.
