Dr Jayant Gupta

Dr Jayant Gupta is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist with over 40 years of medical experience and a career in UK consultancy spanning more than 25 years. He earned his MBBS with Honours from GSVM Medical College in 1984, subsequently completing advanced postgraduate degrees in Medicine (MD) and Cardiology (DM). Having been appointed as a Consultant and Assistant Professor in Cardiology in 1997 before joining Walsall in 2009, he brings a long-standing commitment to NHS clinical care and patient-focused cardiology practice.

Currently, Dr Gupta serves as a senior leader in cardiac care, holding a pivotal role at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in heart failure and structural heart disease, where he has been instrumental in developing regional multidisciplinary services. As the Lead for Heart Failure Services at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, he actively oversees clinical quality and has served as a senior examiner, chairing and co-chairing clinical examinations for the Royal College of Physicians both nationally and internationally.

Beyond his clinical work, he is deeply involved in medical education, serving as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Medicine. He is dedicated to training and mentoring the next generation of physicians, having served as Postgraduate Tutor for Medicine since 2014.
