Dr Ganesan Kumar

Dr Ganesan Kumar is a highly experienced consultant cardiologist based in Luton and Harpenden, providing expert care across a broad range of cardiac conditions. His specialist interests include arrhythmia, heart failure and cardiac MRI, alongside valvular heart disease, preventative cardiology and cardiothoracic disease. He currently practices at Spire Harpenden Hospital and The Cobham Clinic.

Dr Kumar qualified in medicine with an MBBS from Bharatidasan University in 1990 before moving to the UK in 1998 to undertake higher specialist training in cardiology. He went on to build a distinguished NHS career starting work as a Consultant Cardiologist at Luton and Dunstable Hospital in 2009, contributing significantly to the development of advanced cardiac services.

During his tenure, Dr Kumar led the hospital’s myocardial perfusion imaging service and established specialist heart failure clinics, supporting both hospital-based care and local primary care trusts.

Dr Kumar is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, reflecting his senior standing within the profession. He has a strong interest in education and training, regularly teaching and delivering lectures to patient support groups to promote understanding of cardiovascular health.
