Professor Divaka Perera

Dr Divaka Perera is a Consultant Cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He is also s Professor of Interventional Cardiology in the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences, King's College London. Dr Perera qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and underwent specialist training in cardiology in south London and sub-speciality training in interventional cardiology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. He was appointed Senior Lecturer at King's College and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 2008. He was awarded a chair in Cardiology by King's College in 2017.

Dr Perera subspecialises in interventional cardiology. He treats patients with a range of general heart problems and specialises in the management of ischaemic heart disease (coronary heart disease).

Dr Perera has a keen interest in clinical research and has co-authored numerous publications in his field of expertise.

• Complex percutaneous coronary intervention - rotablation, left main stem and multivessel coronary disease, vein graft disease, bifurcation disease, chronic total coronary occlusions
• Advanced coronary assessment - pressure/flow wire studies, intravascular ultrasound, OCT
• Circulatory assist strategies to prevent and treat severe acute heart failure - intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella pumps, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation
• Cardiac MRI-guided management of coronary artery disease and ischaemic cardiomyopathy
