I am an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with over 20 years’ experience as a consultant in Swindon. I have a specialist interest in disorders of the ear, hearing and balance. I offer a broad range of expertise in the assessment and management of hearing loss, middle ear disease, tinnitus, vertigo, dizziness and imbalance.
My particular clinical interests include middle ear surgery and the investigation and treatment of complex balance disorders and tinnitus. I take a thorough, patient-centred approach, recognising the significant impact that hearing and balance problems can have on quality of life. I aim to provide clear explanations, careful assessment and an individualised management plan, including surgery where appropriate.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have extensive experience in clinical leadership and medical education. I served as Associate Medical Director at Great Western Hospital from 2017–2025, providing clinical leadership across 22 departments and overseeing quality, performance and clinical governance for large multidisciplinary teams. I am currently Academy Dean and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Swindon Academy, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol. I have also been a clinical lead for ENT and maxillofacial surgery and have extensive experience in postgraduate training, examination and mentoring.
I have maintained a strong interest in evidence-based practice and research throughout my career. I have contributed to Cochrane reviews and evidence reviews on tinnitus, vestibular disorders and middle ear conditions, and have published in peer-reviewed journals. I have also undertaken national and international teaching in otology.
Since 2008, I have volunteered with the Britain Nepal Otology Service, leading surgical and educational ear camps and helping develop sustainable ear care services in Nepal. This work was recognised with the BMJ Medical Team of the Year award in 2013.
My aim is to combine specialist expertise with a compassionate, pragmatic approach, helping patients understand their condition and choose the most appropriate treatment for their individual circumstances.
