Dr Albert Mifsud

Dr Albert Mifsud is a Microbiology and Virology expert. Dr Mifsud qualified in medicie at the Royal Free Hospital, Univeristy of London and trained in microbiology and virology at the London Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and at various locations. Dr Mifsud undertook adult and paediatric clinical infectious diseases training. Dr Mifsud was awarded an MD for research. He has been a consultant in infection since 1985, most recently at Barts Health.

Dr Mifsud had been elected as President of the British Infection Association (2017-2019) and had served as a member of the Royal College of Pathologists Specialty Advisory Committee and its Training Committees for many years. Dr Mifsud is a UK representative to the Medical Microbiology Section of the UEMS. Dr Mifsud chairs the Steering Committee of the UK Standards for Microbiology Investigations, which develops evidence-based, NICE-accredited laboratory procedures.
