Dr Diba Shariat

Dr Diba Shariat is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine with specialist expertise in the rehabilitation of patients with complex neurological and physical disabilities. She works across both NHS and private rehabilitation services in Birmingham and plays a senior clinical role in designing and overseeing multidisciplinary treatment programmes for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, major trauma and other disabling neurological conditions.

Her practice is particularly focused on helping patients regain function, independence and quality of life through goal-directed rehabilitation. She works closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other rehabilitation professionals to develop treatment plans that reflect each patient’s individual needs and priorities.

Her areas of expertise include complex neurorehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, traumatic and acquired brain injury rehabilitation, polytrauma rehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, hyper-acute and acute rehabilitation, spasticity management, Botulinum Toxin injections, chemodenervation and management of drooling in adults with neurological conditions including Parkinson’s disease.

Dr Shariat’s approach is built around patient-led rehabilitation and clearly defined functional goals. Rather than focusing solely on the underlying diagnosis, she considers how neurological illness or injury affects mobility, independence and everyday life, coordinating medical treatment and multidisciplinary therapy to help each patient achieve the highest realistic level of recovery and participation
