Prof. Devaki Nair

Professor Devaki Radhakrishnan Nair is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist at the Royal Free Hospital and an internationally recognised expert in lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease prevention. With decades of clinical experience, she specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex lipid conditions, including genetically inherited hyperlipidaemia, familial hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia, and statin intolerance.

Professor Nair has particular expertise in personalised lipid management, developing tailored treatment plans that incorporate the latest evidence-based therapies, including injectable lipid-lowering medications where appropriate. Her patient-centred approach focuses on reducing cardiovascular risk through accurate diagnosis and individualised care.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Madras in 1984, Professor Nair became a specialist in Chemical Pathology in 2001. Alongside her clinical practice, she has made significant contributions to medical education, serving as a Training Programme Director for Chemical Pathology and teaching healthcare professionals internationally. Her educational work has included programmes in Sri Lanka and Kuwait, as well as her annual Clinical Lipidology Course in India.

Professor Nair is also actively involved in clinical research and has led numerous national and international clinical trials, contributing to advances in lipid management and cardiovascular risk prevention through both research and education.
