Dr. Deepal Rai

Dr. Deepal Rai is a highly experienced GP specialising in Lifestyle Medicine, with a focus on the evidence-based prevention and management of chronic diseases. Her approach is centred on optimising key areas of health, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, mental wellbeing, and minimising harmful substance use. With over 20 years of experience as a medical doctor, Dr. Rai believes that the key to optimal health is a holistic approach, taking into account the whole person within the context of their broader life.

Dr. Rai has firsthand experience of balancing a professional career with raising two young children. Her journey led her to recognise the importance of addressing not just physical health but also mental wellbeing, especially during times of burnout, stress, anxiety, and depression. This inspired her to incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her practice, to help her patients enhance their mental wellbeing and cope with the challenges of daily life.

Dr. Rai's medical journey began at Imperial College London, where she obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2005, along with a scholarship prize for overall best performance. She then worked across various specialities at London teaching hospitals, before obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2008. She further went on to achieve Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2012 and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2015.

Dr. Rai is passionate about general practice and places great emphasis on providing holistic care. She has particular expertise in general medicine, women’s health, chronic disease management, mental health, and geriatric medicine. She also provides routine antenatal care as a shared care affiliate with the Royal Women’s/Sandringham Hospitals. Fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu, Dr. Rai is dedicated to offering compassionate, patient-centred care.
