Mr David Lin is a fellowship-trained lower limb arthroplasty surgeon with a specialist focus on hip and knee replacement surgery and complex revision procedures.
He was born and raised in Singapore before relocating to London in 2004. He completed his medical degree with honours at Imperial College London, followed by foundation and core surgical training in the North West Thames region. He went on to complete higher surgical training on the Percivall Pott rotation based at The Royal London Hospital.
Mr Lin further advanced his expertise through a competitive fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in Australia, where he trained under Professor William Walter. During this time, he gained experience in advanced arthroplasty techniques including ceramic resurfacing, navigated anterior total hip arthroplasty, and robotic-assisted, kinematically aligned total knee replacement.
He currently practises within the NHS at Homerton University Hospital, where he performs a high volume of hip and knee arthroplasty procedures. His trauma interests include complex periarticular fractures and periprosthetic revision arthroplasty.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Lin is actively involved in academic research, with publications in high-impact journals. He has also been appointed Clinical Lead at Homerton, where he focuses on improving patient pathways and supporting the transition towards a day-case arthroplasty model, aiming to enhance efficiency and patient outcomes.

I found Mr Lin to be friendly and professnel, and very good at his job
I was assessed according to my history. A diagnosis was reached quickly. Bursitis was explained to me, and how it is treated There was time for me to ask questions and receive answers. Throughout I was treated with professionalism and courtesy. This enabled me to leave the hospital knowing that my care was in good hands and informed of what was going to happen next
Mr Lin was incredibly kind and helpful and I'm hugely grateful for his clarity and for taking me on! He built a plan around my complexities and I feel I am in very safe hands. I cannot thank him enough. His staff were also wonderfully supportive especially Pryia Patel who is second to none.
Mr Lin listened to me kindly, and gave me clear advice regarding my expectations around maximum flexion and kneeling. I am very pleased with my knee replacement and the progress I’ve made. He examined me and when he wasn’t sure about why a quad muscle wasn’t firing properly he gave a suggestion as to why and suggestions for what I could do about it. He was also clear about what to expect regarding the scar healing and swelling going down over the year. He centred my overall satisfaction with the procedure.
Appointment was very quick, Mr Lin asked me how things went and l explained that my life had changed since the operation l can do things now that I couldn't do before. He said l will have another appointment in six months to check my hip and my knees. Overall l am extremely please with all treatment.
I was lucky enough to be referred to Mr Lin with knee issues. He actually said they weren’t as bad as the x-rays suggested and ruled out any major surgery treatments immediately. He then guided me through the options of injections/ physio giving me enough information to make my own decision on forward treatment. We opted for physio which has had a fantastic positive impact on my knee. I can do everything ( golf , gym ) without any pain. Mr Lin has been fantastic and I would recommend him without hesitation. Thankyou Mr Lin!!
Mr Lin was very patient and knowledgeable in explaining what having a new hip would involve. I trusted him completely and the procedure was carried out a month after I had my first meeting with him. The surgery went very well and I was out of hospital in two days. My recovery has been rapid and I’m off crutches six weeks after surgery. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Lin - and will have my second hip done by him if it ever needs to be done!
Mr Lin was really friendly right from the first appointment. He explained my condition really clearly and suggested the option for treatment. He was completely professional and answered all of my questions no matter what they were. He put me at ease at all times and was extremely knowledgeable.
Dr Lee Is second to none the most compatant Surgeon I have ever encountered,So caring about his patients that you can't go wrong with him ,he has God written all over his face. A surgeon of the Centary. Yours Sincerely J H.
