About Dr. Daniel Sutcliffe
Dr Daniel Sutcliffe is a dentist and the founder of The Bespoke Dentist at 28 Harley Place, London. He qualified from the University of Manchester in 2004 and has practised biological and integrative dentistry for over twenty years.
He joined the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology in 2015, became Accredited in 2023 and was made a Fellow in September 2026. He is the only active Fellow of the Academy in the United Kingdom, and the only IAOMT SMART Protocol Mentor in the United Kingdom. He has removed more than 10,000 amalgam fillings using the SMART protocol, which is designed to contain mercury vapour and particles during removal.
His approach looks at the mouth in the context of the whole person, including gum health, nutrition, sleep and the jaw, and he works alongside patients' other practitioners. Many patients travel from across the UK, and most have their fillings replaced in a single visit. If your fillings are sound, he'll tell you so.
He lectures for the College of Living Nutrition, and his book, Heal Your Mouth, Heal Your Body, is published by Hammersmith Books in January 2027.

Dr Daniel Sutcliffe joined the IAOMT in 2015 and has completed its full postgraduate pathway in biological and integrative dentistry.
• SMART certification: training in the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique, the IAOMT protocol for removing amalgam (mercury) fillings while containing mercury vapour and particles. He is the only IAOMT SMART Protocol Mentor in the UK, training other dentists in the technique.
• IAOMT Accreditation (2023): advanced coursework and examination in biological dentistry, covering safe amalgam removal, biocompatible and metal-free dental materials, biological periodontal (gum) therapy, and the links between oral health and general health.
• IAOMT Fellowship (FIAOMT, 2026): awarded at the IAOMT Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio, following a systematic review on periodontal disease and diabetes. He is the only active IAOMT Fellow in the UK.
• IAOMT Mastership: currently working towards Mastership, with a systematic review on gum disease and cardiovascular health.
