I was fortunate enough to be seen by Dr. Dan at the MFAU at UCLH 21 weeks into my pregnancy when I was experiencing some complications. Given the nature of the problem, Dan’s calm and matter-of-fact style was exactly what was needed. Dan also happened to be on duty a few weeks later when I went into extreme pre-term labour at 24 weeks. He provided the various options that were available to us in a very clear manner and remained calm throughout. This played an enormous role in our own state during an incredibly difficult situation. I feel very fortunate to have been taken care of by Dr. Dan and the NHS. Prenatal, labour and post natal (NICU) care for my baby and I was world class.

Mr Stott is one of the top obstetricians I have met in my pregnancy journeys. Very knowledgeable, supportive, excellent bedside manners and highly respected in his field. It has been a tough journey for me and I had also transferred my maternity care and was checked into Mr Stott’s clinic. He has gone beyond the call of duty to link me with the right specialists during the first consultation and provided the right level of support during my delivery given my history of needle phobias. Dr Stott from the outset familiarised himself with our case and from here on we had the comfort that someone was monitoring continuously rather than occasionally picking up a file and rapidly trying to catch up. He was communicative, knowledgeable and attentive throughout. He explained everything in great detail giving us full information and providing for the possibility to make an informed decision at any time. He made himself available at all times, He was contactable on his personal mobile and email. He always answered very quickly to any communication. He listened to our needs and delivered what we asked. He never pushed his own ideas instead providing advice/recommendations and plenty of information to enable us to arrive at a decision. He is very honest and generous with his time - he met us on a great number of occasions and never tried to convince us to go private quite the opposite. We are very pleased to have met and chosen him as the doctor who delivered our daughter. We couldn’t ask for more. We highly recommend him.

Dr Daniel Stott was absolutely professional through out the process of me giving birth and very knowledgeable aswell. Happy I stuck with him to give birth to my child. I wouldn’t have asked for a better doctor. He made my experience of child shirts seamless and less worry.

Dr Daniel Stott is the epitome of a good Consultant. He monitored me from in hypertension antenatal clinic and Labour Ward. Highly skilled as an Obstetrician and Clinician, he also possesses excellent communication skills. As a patient I found him approachable, informative and friendly. Daniel diagnosed my pre-eclampsia at the very early stage. He referred to recent academic studies and NICE guidelines in his explanations, I could easily find it in open access. I read through the publications to understand better what was happening to my condition pre-eclampsia which I have developed on top of my pre-existing hypertension. Each consultation with Daniel was very useful, it made me feel reassured and confident about my treatment plan and the rationale behind the clinical decision making. He found the time to speak to my partner as well prior to my emergency caesarean section and explained in a plain English language about my condition and necessity to deliver my premature baby due to health condition. My partner understood Daniel’s explanations very well. In addition, Dr Stott was supportive. He observed how anxious I was by trying to look for the cause of my pre-eclampsia. Indeed, it was difficult for me to accept the diagnoses at first and also to acknowledge that pre-eclampsia is not like any ordinary non-communicable disease, such as diabetes or hypertension where people can try and change life styles, do physical activities, etc. Daniel explained that there is nothing that I could do about my condition or nothing that I have done could cause it. So, I clearly understood from doctor that pre-eclampsia is a condition in which there is a physiological feedback system went out of control and for which there are no effective treatments: it can be cured only by delivering the baby. He said there was absolutely nothing I could have done to prolong my pregnancy without endangering my life and of my premature baby who I had to deliver at 27 weeks of gestational age. He built the relationship with me as a patient on trust, so I have never had any doubt that I am in good hands for observation and monitoring. In the end, when he expressed his professional opinion that time came to deliver my premature baby, he offered me as an option the opportunity to consult with someone else if I wished to do so. However, there was no need for to do that, I trusted him as a professional and agreed with the plan and antenatal steroid treatment for my baby lungs. I thank him for early diagnosis and care for me and my baby. I think he has excellent up-to-date knowledge of, and interest in the work that he is leading on. He has remained calm and dealt with each of my situations quickly and effectively. Overall, I consider him a role model for an Obstetrician. I only wish to have him as a Consultant again and highly recommend to any patient.

Dr Stott really went above and beyond what I expected during my pregnancy. He spend time explaining in depth the complications which developed during my pregnancy and the effects on the me and the baby. I truly believe that due to his expertise and attention to detail I have a healthy son.

I came across absolutely great experience and help from Dr.Stott at obstetric department during my pregnancy. Dr. Stott looked after me, gave advices and stabilised my blood pressure especially when I was going through a difficult time. The medical services I received from Dr. Stott during my visits in the hospital were exceptional. Dr. Stott performed my cesarean section. My cesarean section was not planned, but became recommended due to various circumstances that materialised whilst I was in labour. I have no doubt that it was down to Dr. Stott's impeccable bedside manner, kindness and professionalism that I had a very positive birth experience. Dr. Stott came and spoke with me in my birthing room before my operation in order to explain why the operation was recommended and exactly what it would entail. He was extremely patient, listened to all my queries and ensured that all my questions were answered before he left the room. He made me feel very calm and at ease, despite the fact that a number of unexpected factors had recently occurred during my labour, and also made me feel empowered to make the right decision for myself and my baby. Immediately before, during, and immediately after the operation Dr. Stott was extremely gentle in his manner which not only helped me to relax throughout the operation, which in turn enabled me to really lean into and enjoy my birth experience, but it made me feel that I was in the safest of hands during what was one of the most exceptional experiences of my life. Again, Dr. Stott was very patient and in no way made me feel that there was any rush to perform the procedure. He was also sensitive to my requests which made me feel listened to and extremely well looked after. Despite being in an operating theatre, Dr. Stott's very caring manner allowed me to feel relaxed and excited to finally meet my daughter. Following my operation, Dr. Stott came to my ward to check on me and ensure that I was feeling okay. He also spoke with me about what I could expect following my operation. He showed a very genuine interest in my recovery which again made me feel extremely well looked after and reassured me in my ability to look after the operation site following the operation. From a strictly medical perspective, since my operation various medical professionals have commented on how 'neat' my scar is and how well it has healed. That is of course as a result of Dr. Stott's exceptional medical skills and care. I feel very fortunate that Dr. Stott performed my operation and delivered by baby. Since my operation I have also spoken at length to others about my birth experience and how incredibly well I was treated by Dr. Stott. My birth experience meant that, despite a number of factors being unexpected during my labour, I had a very positive experience which provided me with the strength and energy post-operation to focus on my physical recovery as well as being a new mother and looking after my daughter. I cannot thank Dr. Stott and his team enough for the way that my family was treated during our stay at UCLH for one of the most incredible experiences of our lives.
