Mr. Daniel Parfitt qualified in Medicine & Surgery at the University of Birmingham in 2000 and completed his house officer training at University Hospital Birmingham before returning to South Wales for his basic surgical training. During this period, he trained in Wales and the South West region, and later undertook higher surgical training on the ‘All Wales’ Trauma & Orthopaedic programme. While a specialist registrar, he earned a Master’s degree in Trauma Surgery from Swansea University.
Following his higher surgical training, Mr. Parfitt gained an additional year of specialised experience in lower limb arthroplasty as a fellow at North Shore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2013, he was appointed as a Consultant at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where he has since focused his clinical practice on lower limb surgery, with a particular interest in hip and knee replacement. He also performs arthroscopic or keyhole surgery of the knee, although he does not undertake ligament reconstruction surgery.
An advocate for using patient-related outcome data, Mr. Parfitt continually seeks to refine his techniques to ensure the best possible function, longevity, and rapid recovery from surgery. His expertise covers a wide range of conditions and treatments, including primary hip replacement, management of knee arthritis, total knee replacement, knee arthroscopy for pain, stiffness, weakness, locking, and non-surgical treatments for swelling or effusion.

Everything went well and explained everything is easy to understand and always answered questions I asked, ie did the had a break to see that we were understanding everything, even the bad bits.
Mr Parffit did a hip replacement form. He was friendly and explained everything that was going to happen. He made made me comfortable and totally at ease with what was going to happen.
6 week follow up appointment after left hip replacement surgery on 26th feb 2026. New hip in great condition after doing the required exercises daily & attending physio. Mr Parfitt was pleased with my progress, I am walking well & no limp. I had only had physio the day before so they had answered any questions I had & advised that I could now use my hip fully with no restrictions, Mr Parfitt advised of one lower leg movement to avoid with the strength being on the front. Would normally get a callback after a year but progressed so well not required. Just have to continue with my exercises & get back to normal life with my new hip.
I am pleased to say my overall experience was very good, and would highly recommend St Joseph's to anyone considering Private Surgery
Mr Parfitt was totally honest with me beforehand, explaining all the things that could go wrong and what to expect post surgery. I felt confident that he was the best person for the job and comfortable talking to him.
Had hip replacement surgery carried out by Mr Parfitt.
I was seeing Mr Parfitt previously through the NHS so wanted to continue that through on my private hip replacement journey. I saw Mr Parfitt & the anaesthetist on the morning before my operation. I had the surgery that day & Mr Parfitt came to see me that evening to confirm the surgery went well & he checked my wound. I was up & moving around with crutches with physio the following day & had an xray .I could have waited to see Mr Parfitt again before I was discharged but I was happy to leave without seeing him. I have a 6 week follow up appointment with him in April. I was given plenty of aids & medication to bring home & was escorted to the car by wheelchair with all my belongings by 2 members of staff. A big thank you to Mr Parfitt & his team for everything
.Took time to give full explanations of risks and benefits
