About Miss Christine Lwin
Ms Christine Lwin is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who specialises in corrective facial disproportion, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, facial skin cancer surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, salivary gland surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and surgery for obstructive sleep apnoea. She also has extensive experience in paediatric and adult dento-alveolar surgery, including impacted wisdom tooth removal and the management of jaw cysts. She uses advanced techniques including 3D virtual surgical planning, 3D printing technology, ridge preservation for implant dentistry, bone grafting and sinus lift procedures.
Ms Lwin holds dual qualifications in dentistry and medicine from the Universities of Glasgow and Birmingham. She completed general surgical training in London and Oxford before undertaking higher specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Liverpool and Oxford. She has authored research publications and presented at international scientific meetings.
Ms Lwin is the Lead for Clinical Governance in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospitals Dorset and has served as Chair of the Dorset Orthognathic Audit Group since 2017. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She also contributes to the FRCS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery examinations by writing examination questions and acts as a reviewer for scientific journals.
