If you need a hip replacement I would recommend Mr Wek and his minimally invasive technique/operation. Besides some discomfort at various times my experience was virtually pain free and after 5 weeks I was walking without crutches albeit rather slowly and cautiously. I was in a lot more pain and discomfort particularly from my knee prior to having the hop operation

Mr Wek performed my total hip replacement left side in August 2026 and I am amazed by the results. I was well cared for and the operation itself was performed with minimal intrusion, a smaller scar than I had expected and this led to a very swift recovery. I cannot recommend Mr Wek and his team at the Winterbourne highly enough.

My experience for a Hip replacement with Dr Wek was outstanding. I was initially very scared and apprehensive to have such a major surgery but his kind, caring demeanour put me immediately at ease. He explained everything in terminology I could understand process at I was in such great pain. The operation was a wonderful success and I am finally out of pain in that Hip. I will have no concerns when I go back to him for my second Hip replacement. I would highly recommend Dr Wek for anyone considering this surgery. Not only will it be the best decision you ever make for your mobility and pain but you will be taken care of by a wonderful surgeon.

Could not fault anything, staff were very friendly and efficient, was never made to feel uncomfortable, bedside manner was faultless and very professional, as a NHS patient I feel I wasn't treated any differently, Dr Wek was excellent, and had no problems with recovery

I had a right hip replacement operation by Mr Wek as an NHS patient at the Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester in June 2026. Mr Wek was informative and professional in my contacts with him prior to the operation. He was reassuring when he saw me on the day of the operation both before and after the procedure and my recovery has been excellent. I am now walking without pain for the first time in several years.
