Mr Caesar Wek is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based in Dorset, specialising in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. He works at Dorset County Hospital, where he serves as Orthopaedic Clinical Lead for Trauma and Hip Fractures, and also consults privately at The Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester, where he welcomes both insured and self-funding patients.
Mr Wek offers evidence-based treatments including hip replacement, revision hip surgery, knee replacement, and hip injections. He is among the few surgeons in Dorset skilled in minimally invasive small-scar hip replacement techniques, such as SPAIRE and piriformis-sparing approaches, which support faster recovery and improved post-operative comfort. His patient-centred philosophy emphasises clear communication, calm and compassionate care, and ensuring each patient fully understands their treatment options.
With over 16 years of clinical experience, Mr Wek completed dual fellowship training in complex hip and knee surgery, including the Royal Bournemouth Complex Primary and Revision Hip Fellowship and the Revision Hip & Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship at St George’s Hospital, London. He also served as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and regularly teaches on national and regional orthopaedic training programmes. His research contributions include international conference presentations and publications, as well as a co-authored chapter on minimally invasive hip arthroplasty in Hip Arthroplasty: Current and Future Directions (2023).
Mr Wek is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, and World Orthopaedic Concern.

Informed and well prepared. Explained the operation very well
I could not have wished for a better surgeon for my complex hip revision procedure. Dr Wek is a genuinely warm, kind-hearted man and an exquisitely skilled physician. He has made a massive and life-changing improvement to my mobility. I am forever grateful and would recommend him most highly.
Very informative on progress to date and what to expect in the future, especially the exercises to assist in recovery.
I found the whole experience just great. All the people I met & spoke with were wonderful & Mr Wek is a lovely person
Mr Wek was at all times professional and I applaud his personal and friendly approach. This made the whole experience easier to understand and undergo. I fully recommend him to any other patient undertaking a hip replacement. My recovery has been unproblematic and I thank him for his expertise. It has changed my life. I am pain free and able to resume normal movement.
I came in for a check up after a hip opperation on the 11 of February to make sure I was doing good with all exercises and moving around and its all going good.
My last appointment with Mr Wek was 8 weeks post op following my hip replacement. I was so excited to tell him how my life had changed since the surgery. I’m totally pain free, go to the gym twice a week, can go on lovely long dog walks. After years of pain and not being able to lead my life as I wanted this was truly a transformation for me. Mr Wek has been so kind and caring throughout my treatment and I always had the utmost trust in him as my surgeon.
Caesar is an outstanding hip surgeon with a genuine passion for patient care. During our training together, I was continually impressed and inspired by his dedication and exceptional bedside manner. He consistently went the extra mile to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of his patients. Caesar is a gifted surgeon whose technical skills are remarkable. He has a strong interest in the integration of robotics and augmented reality technologies in hip surgery, and his forward-thinking approach greatly enhances surgical precision and patient outcomes. I am happy to recommend anyone to be treated ...
