Dr Branislav Czako

Dr Branislav Czako is a Consultant Haematologist based in Bushey, with extensive experience across haematology and particular interests in haematological malignancies and anaemias. He practices privately at Spire Bushey Hospital and also works at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Czako’s clinical practice covers the investigation and management of anaemias and haematological malignancies, including lymphoma, leukaemia, multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndromes. He also manages myeloproliferative disorders, thrombophilia, bleeding disorders and haemochromatosis.

Dr Czako completed his medical training at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, before undertaking postgraduate training at University Hospital Bratislava. He obtained a degree in internal medicine at the Slovak Postgraduate University in 2000 and subsequently trained in haematology at the Department of Haematology and Transfusiology at University Hospital Bratislava. In 2006, he obtained a specialisation degree in haematology and transfusiology. Between 2006 and 2008, he worked as a Consultant Haematologist in the Department of Clinical Haematology and Transfusiology and the Stem Cell Transplant Centre.

Dr Czako moved to the UK in 2008 and was appointed to a substantive Consultant Haematology post at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in February 2009. During his career in the UK, he has undertaken additional roles including Lead for the Haematology Multidisciplinary Team and Trust Lead for the Chemotherapy Service. He was formerly Clinical Lead for Haematology and currently holds the position of Educational and Clinical Supervisor.
