Dr. Asheeta Gupta

Asheeta is a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), where she leads the metabolic stone service, focusing on Primary Hyperoxaluria and other rare stone disorders. She is an expert in paediatric kidney genetics and rare disease, with dual certification in Paediatrics and Paediatric Nephrology, and advanced training in genomics.

She is currently completing a PhD in Translational Sciences at the University of Bristol, exploring equity in access and use of genomic sequencing for kidney disease. She has led multidisciplinary renal genetics clinics in the West Midlands, supported national Cystinosis and Bardet-Biedl Syndrome clinics.

Asheeta has published widely in paediatric nephrology, including international guidelines on Primary Hyperoxaluria and Alport Syndrome, and is involved in clinical trials for rare renal conditions. A dedicated educator, she contributes to postgraduate training and quality improvement, with previous roles including RCPCH College Tutor and Education Lead for Nephrology. She co-chairs the RenGen group for kidney genomics, and teaches on the MSc Genomics course at the University of Birmingham.
