Dr Waring is a Consultant in Sports, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine in London, specialising in the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal pain, osteoarthritis and sports injuries. He has particular expertise in bone stress injuries and stress fractures, adolescent sport and musculoskeletal conditions, and tendon problems.
Dr Waring is currently Chief Medical Officer at Surrey Women's Cricket Club. He has extensive experience working across team and individual sports, including with The Football Association, Fulham Football Club and British Athletics.
Dr Waring uses point-of-care diagnostic ultrasound as part of his assessment process and works within a multidisciplinary team to optimise patient health and support a safe return to full function. He can advise on shockwave therapy and injection based treatments (including steroid, hyaluronic acid, PRP and Arthrosamid) as adjuncts in patient care.
Dr Waring graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2009 and completed a Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine with Distinction at Queen Mary University of London in 2012. He undertook his Core Medical Training in London, obtaining his MRCP in 2014, followed by the FSEM Intercollegiate Faculty Diploma in 2016. In 2017, he completed a PGCert in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound with Distinction from the University of Bournemouth.
He went on to complete Higher Specialist Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine in London, with placements at Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), and the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court.
