Ania Foster Vander Elst is a registered and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Ania specialises in supporting individuals who are facing a range of challenges, including depression, burnout, feelings of being ‘stuck’, trauma, anxiety (health, social, and generalised), panic, OCD, and phobias. She also works with those navigating life transitions or seeking personal growth and a deeper sense of self-understanding. Ania tailors her approach to each individual, collaborating with clients to help them build resilience, find clarity, and enhance their well-being.
Her approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental. Ania is committed to creating a close, authentic client-therapist relationship that fosters trust, making clients feel truly heard and understood. By building a safe space, Ania helps clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and challenges with openness and curiosity. Together, they develop effective strategies to move forward. Ania’s goal is to empower her clients to become their own therapists, enabling them to live fulfilling lives aligned with their values.
In addition to her core therapies, CBT and ACT, Ania integrates Schema Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques when needed. She holds an MSc in Psychology from the University of St Andrews and a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT from the University of Southampton. Ania is a member of the British Psychological Society and accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists. To maintain the highest standards of care, she regularly participates in supervision and ongoing clinical training.
Outside the therapy room, Ania embraces life’s many experiences and enjoys exploring new natural places. Being in nature reminds her of the importance of balance, connection, and the simple joys of life. These practices help her stay grounded and present, both in her personal life and in her therapy work, where she brings her full attention and empathy to every session.

Ania was kind and welcoming as always. She always asks me how things are and I tell her at length! She picks up a key issue to focus on, this time it was the window of tolerance and strategies to help me be curious, open and flexible. She is kind and supportive and helps me to see what I do well and how I can live more in accordance with my values rather than being angered repeatedly by small things or anxious about them. We both thought we were at a stage where I did not need to come to the sessions any more and I think this shows what a great practitioner Ania is and how well she understands me. I am both sorry and happy to leave!
I am so grateful for all the skills she has taught me. I learnt so much and felt really send and understood.
I cannot put into words just how much Ania has helped me over the past 10 months. Meeting her from a very low and lost place, Ania has provided consistency, comfort, an understanding and a productive way forward - the springboard I needed to gain confidence and move in a positive direction. Ania, thank you so so much!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for allowing me to be a part of your journey. I am truly grateful for your feedback. It means a lot.
