I’m Amy Buckley, a specialist gastroenterology dietitian at The Gut Health Clinic, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, alongside conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other complex digestive disorders. I bring over six years of experience across the NHS and academic research, combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge insights into diet and the gut microbiome.
How I can help you
I support people dealing with complex digestive conditions, particularly those navigating inflammatory bowel disease, ongoing symptoms, or treatment-related challenges that haven’t improved with standard or overly restrictive advice.
My areas of expertise include:
I also support individuals with:
My approach
I take a holistic, evidence-based approach, recognising that digestive symptoms are often influenced by a combination of physiological, dietary and lifestyle factors.
Rather than applying one-size-fits-all or overly restrictive approaches, I focus on understanding your symptoms in the context of your medical history, lifestyle and relationship with food. From there, we build a structured, personalised plan that supports symptom relief while improving long-term gut health.
A key part of my work is helping you improve your relationship with food and feel more confident managing your symptoms day to day.
My experience
I have spent my clinical career working within a large London teaching hospital, across both acute and outpatient gastroenterology services. I am currently completing a PhD investigating the role of diet in inflammatory bowel disease activity. In addition, I am FODMAP-trained through King’s College London.
The Gut Health Clinic
I work at The Gut Health Clinic, a specialist service led by gut health scientist Dr Megan Rossi (@theguthealthdoctor). The clinic brings together a team of expert gastro dietitians with 80 years of combined clinical experience and has supported more than 5,000 clients since 2018.
We work closely with GPs, gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure your care is fully integrated and aligned with your wider medical needs.
What to expect in your first session
Your first appointment is a structured consultation where we take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and goals in detail.
Following this, you’ll receive a personalised plan with clear, practical steps to move forward. I’ll also guide you on how many sessions you'll likely need, so you have clarity from the outset.
If you have private health insurance (including Aviva, Bupa, Cigna, Healix, Vitality or WPA), your appointments may be covered. Get in touch, and we can guide you through this.
Client feedback
“Amy was incredibly empathetic and I really felt like she listened properly. I’m feeling hopeful and excited to try the things she suggested”
Doctify verified 5-star review, June 2026
“I reached out for some support with following the low FODMAP diet, specifically on how to reintroduce food groups and rebuild my gut microbiome after a long battle with post infectious IBS, and Amy was so so helpful. Professional and knowledgeable, yet warm and empathetic. Amy made sure she understood exactly what I wanted to get from the appointment, and shared lots of great resources with me afterwards. It was also great that I could book an online consultation, meaning I was able to find an appointment within a week.”
