About Ms Amrit Kaur Sehmi
Amrit is an experienced Orthoptist with particular expertise in the assessment and management of childhood vision problems, strabismus in children and adults, and eye movement disorders. Her clinical work includes amblyopia treatment, the non-surgical management of double vision and strabismus, and the treatment of convergence and accommodation defects. She is also proficient in carrying out visual field assessments and OCT scans.
Amrit has a special interest in supporting children and adults with special educational needs (SEN). She pioneered the establishment of a dedicated paediatric SEN clinic and has extensive experience assessing patients across different age groups and abilities.
Alongside her clinical practice, Amrit has experience in research, teaching and leadership. She has taught medical students as well as qualified eye specialists and experienced GPs and worked as an orthoptic clinical educator. She is a member of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society.
