Mr Amir Azam

Mr Amir Azam is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Appointed as a consultant in 2018, he has developed extensive experience in primary total hip and knee replacement, complex and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, and specialist hip and knee trauma.

Mr Azam specialises in primary total hip and knee replacements, hip and knee injections and knee arthroscopy. He has a particular interest in complex and revision hip and knee arthroplasty for failed primary joint replacements and regularly receives tertiary referrals from colleagues for these challenging cases. He currently serves as the Lead Clinician for Revision Hip and Knee Replacement services at his base hospital and also leads the revision knee arthroplasty service within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Azam is actively involved in medical education and training. He teaches and supervises junior doctors and medical students and is the central assessor for Swansea medical students. He also contributes to the ongoing development of his specialty as a Specialist Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s orthopaedic update service.

Mr Azam is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. He places strong emphasis on listening carefully to patients, understanding their individual goals, and working collaboratively to select the most appropriate evidence-based treatment.
