About Ms Alison Luther
Miss Alison Luther is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon practising at Spire Southampton Hospital and within the NHS at University Hospital Southampton. Since qualifying in 2008 from the University of Southampton, Miss Luther has dedicated her career to the care of patients with breast conditions. She has performed over 500 breast operations within the NHS and is experienced in breast-conserving surgery using advanced oncoplastic techniques, which allow larger portions of breast tissue to be removed while maintaining natural shape and symmetry. Miss Luther completed her higher surgical training in the Wessex region before undertaking a specialist fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery at University Hospital Southampton. Her clinical interests include breast cancer diagnosis and management, breast reconstruction, and improving aesthetic outcomes after cancer surgery.

Dr Luther was lovely, caring and explained everything simply so I could fully understand. She also took time to explain how to best check my boobs and showed genuine interest in my wellbeing. I would absolutely recommend her and the service.

Arrived feeling very nervous but as soon as I was greeted by the nurse and Ms Luther I was reassured with a smile and warm welcome. After Ms Luther obtained my history and symptoms I was examined and again made feel very comfortable. I had a mammogram and ultrasound they kept me informed at all times. Fortunately for me I was discharged with no further treatment but had it been a different outcome I just know Miss Luther and her team would have supported me through what was to com.
Alison listened to everything I said, gave me a thorough check up and alleviated my concerns. She ensured I went through a complete and thorough process, before then reviewing everything at the end.
The entire appointment went smoothly (including transitions to and from my scan) and Alison helped me to feel at ease. It was a positive experience at a worrying time.
In what can be quite a vulnerable situation, Ms Luther immediately made me feel at ease. I felt that my worries and concerns were genuinely heard and validated.
Super easy to book. Really great experience. Explained everything calmly. Felt super well taken care of. Wish all doctor engagements were like this.
