Mr Alexander Martin is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the John Radcliffe Major Trauma Centre in Oxford. He graduated with honours from the University of Nottingham in 2012, completed early surgical training in London, and underwent specialist orthopaedic training in Oxford. He then completed two years of fellowship training in complex hip surgery and pelvic and acetabular trauma surgery in Australia and Cambridge.
Appointed as a Consultant in Oxford in 2024, Mr Martin treats hip conditions in patients of all ages alongside his major trauma practice. His clinical expertise spans hip arthroscopy, complex primary and revision hip replacements, and pelvic reconstruction. He focuses on joint preservation and improving outcomes after hip replacement surgery by utilising bone-preserving implants, minimally invasive techniques, and tissue-sparing surgical approaches.
Mr Martin contributes to National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded studies across Oxford University Hospitals. Committed to clinical safety, he serves as the Clinical Governance Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics in Oxford.
