Mr Alex Mulligan

Mr Alex Mulligan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing at Spire Norwich Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Appointed as a consultant in 2019, he specialises exclusively in the clinical assessment, non-surgical management, and surgical treatment of shoulder conditions.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Cambridge and University College London (UCL). He completed higher specialist surgical training on the prestigious North East London Percivall Pott Rotation, followed by advanced specialist fellowship training in complex shoulder surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His clinical practice focuses on keyhole (arthroscopic) shoulder surgery and joint replacement procedures. He regularly performs arthroscopic treatments for subacromial impingement, acromioclavicular (AC) joint osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, and shoulder instability. He also performs both anatomic and reverse polarity total shoulder replacements for glenohumeral osteoarthritis, utilising modern technique pathways to deliver day-case surgical care whenever appropriate.
