Dr. Alex Curmi

Dr Alex Curmi is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 12 years of medical experience. Alex completed his training at the South London and Maudsley trust. He specialises in General Adult Psychiatry, with a subspecialty in Addictions, and extensive experience in the assessment and management of ADHD. He has also completed five years of training in humanistic psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute.

In addition to his clinical work, he is the founder and host of the Thinking Mind Podcast, a weekly podcast focused on mental health. Featuring experts from around the world, the podcast aims to make complex psychological ideas accessible and engaging for a general audience.

He works with people in an individualised way, building a careful picture of their past experiences and current difficulties. Those who work with him can expect a warm, empathic approach.

He practises in a practical, solutions-focused manner and collaborates closely with patients to develop tailored plans using a range of interventions. These may include lifestyle advice such as sleep, exercise, and nutrition, as well as medication, psychological techniques, and psychoeducation, with actionable strategies that can be used between appointments.

He values having in-depth conversations with patients about their experiences and how they might improve the quality of their lives.

He has worked in many different settings, including therapy clinics, hospital wards, and accident and emergency departments. As a result, he has experience treating a wide spectrum of problems, from common psychological issues to severe mental and physical illness.
