Mr Alex Barmpas is professional and knowledgeable, engaging patients with clear explanations. Patients report excellent outcomes for various sports injuries, including knee, lower back, shoulder dislocations, and ACL rehabilitation. He provides individualised exercise programmes and hands-on treatment, integrating a holistic view of health. These achievements demonstrate his expertise in comprehensive rehabilitation, including beneficial manual therapy and support for hand problems.
I visited Alex for a left knee impingement. He took the time to understand my medical history and asked detailed questions about how the issue had developed. He then carried out a thorough assessment of my knee, including its range of movement, as well as my overall posture and body mechanics. Alex explained the cause of the problem very clearly, helping me understand how it had developed and what was contributing to it. He then put together a clear treatment and rehabilitation plan to help me recover. Throughout the assessment, he made sure I was comfortable, answered all of my questions, and ensured I understood each step of the examination and the plan moving forward. I felt listened to, well-informed, and confident in the treatment approach. Keep up the good work !!!
Shattered my thumb, and could hardly move it after the reconstructive surgery. However, after six months of physio with Alex I have recovered full range of motion. The care was professional and the consistent measurement and recording of progress markers gave me something to aim for. Alex's friendless and knowledge of his subject made the work very enjoyable and the communication outside sessions was seamless; I was able to rearrange appointments and update him on progress very easily.
Excellent - Alex has a great sensitive manner and makes you feel heard and supported. He also knows his stuff. Gentle and smooth hands when manipulation is required and good direction for exercises at home. Highly recommend.
Having carried a lower back injury from my college rowing days, I found myself struggling again when I recently returned to running. I decided to visit Alex, though I'll admit I came with some skepticism - previous experiences with physiotherapy had left me with little to show for them in terms of pain relief. That skepticism didn't last long. Within a few sessions I began to notice a genuine reduction in pain, and with it, a sense of confidence I hadn't felt in a while. Two months on, I'm back to running regularly and feeling stronger than I expected to be at this point. What's set Alex apart isn't just the physiotherapy itself, his background as a running coach has been invaluable. That dual expertise has helped me not only recover, but actually improve in an area I had quietly started to write off. I couldn't recommend him more highly.
I met Alex 3 months ago after a second injury to my back (disc bulge 1 year ago, annular tear detected 5 months ago) while trying to balance 16-hour work days with intense workout sessions. I specifically requested my doctor to refer me to someone who could help me go on a journey of recovery, while focusing on sports performance rather than just pain relief. Alex was the perfect fit! I pushed for structure in our physio programming, and that is exactly what I got. We started with a few mobility exercises for me to incorporate into my everyday routine, and had soon enough moved on to running and gym performance. I never once thought that I would see my athletic performance improving, while taking care of back injuries during physio. In terms of results, I'm not only pain-free, but have also improved my proprioception, running technique and glute and core strength. I highly recommend Alex for anyone looking to stay active and push their athletic boundaries safely, one step at a time.
I came to Alex after struggling with chronic lower back pain for the last 2 years. He was extremely thorough in his initial assessment and has an amazing manner with patients - he takes the time to explain his thoughts and diagnosis in detail, and was great at helping me understand exactly how specific exercises would improve things. I was also hugely impressed by how aware and open-minded Alex is with regards to more general pain management techniques like breathwork etc. - for me it was essential to see a physio that has such a well-rounded view of holistic health when dealing with something like chronic pain. My symptoms have improved and I've made considerable progress through seeing Alex, for which I am very grateful for. Overall an amazingly knowledgable physio and a very likeable guy!
Alex has been great in helping me recover from my shoulder dislocation. Always explaining the injury and its implications on my body, and always pushing me to recover as quick as possible.
Alex approach healed my knee issue quickly and effective. Clear instructions and a variety of exercises helped me recover and be back in action. He is very experienced with great attitude and good manners. I would definitely use him again and I can highly recommend him.
Alex made me enjoy exercising! He is very experienced and helpful. He is a wonderful physiotherapist. He has great patience and he is really good with beginners.
Alex is an outstanding physiotherapist. Originally from Belgium, I currently live in London. After undergoing shoulder surgery in Brussels, I had to immediately travel to London for my studies. Alex managed my entire rehabilitation process with exceptional skill. Thanks to his efforts, my shoulder has completely healed, allowing me to even go skiing! Throughout the rehabilitation, Alex closely monitored my progress, customising each session to meet my specific needs. He went above and beyond by taking the time to communicate with my doctors in Belgium, ensuring a cohesive recovery plan. Moreover, Alex always made sure to explain each part of the process to me, making physiotherapy not only beneficial but also enjoyable. I strongly recommend Alex; my experience with him was nothing short of great. Thank you, Alex, for everything!
