Dr. Alda Amaro

Dr. Alda Amaro is a Chartered Clinical and Health Psychologist with extensive experience working across the NHS and private sectors. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as the Faculty for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

Since 2018, Dr. Amaro has worked within the NHS, providing psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for individuals across all ages. She has particular expertise in supporting people with intellectual disabilities and neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism—with or without associated intellectual disability. Her approach integrates evidence-based assessments and therapies, tailored to meet each person’s unique communication and psychological needs.

Dr. Amaro is deeply committed to professional development and advancing the field of psychology. Alongside her clinical work, she serves as a Clinical Supervisor and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Southampton, where she helps train and inspire future generations of psychologists.

Dr. Amaro holds a degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Universidade do Algarve and is currently Clinical Psychologist at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, as well as Director of Insight Mental Health.
