Mr Malhotra is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with his private practice based at Rowley Hall hospital. He completed his orthopaedic training in the prestigious Stoke-Oswestry rotation. In addition, he completed a 16-month fellowship at the Pulvertaft hand centre in Derby and two international fellowships in upper limb spasticity and peripheral nerve surgery at Institut de La Main, Paris as well as Ganga hospital, Coimbatore, India. Subsequently he was appointed at the University Hospitals of North Midlands as a Consultant Orthopaedic hand and wrist surgeon with an interest in peripheral nerve injury and upper limb spasticity.
Mr Malhotra's expertise includes managing complex hand and wrist trauma and elective procedures, peripheral nerve injuries including brachial plexus injuries and upper limb spasticity in both post stroke and cerebral palsy patients.
Along with routine procedures, he performs arthroscopic wrist procedures for sports injuries, endoscopic carpal tunnel decompression, percutaneous needle fasciotomy for dupuytren's and joint replacement procedures in hand and wrist for arthritis.
Most of Mr Malhotra's surgical procedures can be performed using the awake regional anaesthesia technique, reducing risks associated with general anaesthesia.
Mr Malhotra is the Clinical Lead for Hand and Wrist surgery at University Hospital of North Midlands and the North Midlands Hand Centre.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Malhotra is involved in education and is the co-lead trainer for all orthopaedic trainees at University Hospital of North Midlands.
