Mr Ahmed Saad

Mr Ahmed Saad is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he serves as the Clinical Lead for Vitreoretinal Surgery. He graduated with honours from Zagazig University in 2005 and completed his initial ophthalmic training and doctorate research before moving to the UK in 2013. He further advanced his expertise by undertaking two prestigious post-fellowship training programs at Bristol Eye Hospital, specialising in medical retina/uveitis and vitreoretinal surgery.

With over 18 years of clinical experience, Mr Saad is recognised for his high-volume surgical expertise, having performed over 5,000 cataract procedures and 3,000 retinal surgeries. He specialises in suture-less retinal surgery and the management of complex cataracts using advanced toric lens implants. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Saad acts as a Principal Investigator in three large UK multi-centre clinical trials focused on retina and uveitis, and has contributed extensively to peer-reviewed literature in retinal surgery and uveitis. He is also deeply dedicated to clinical education, serving as an active member of the examiners panels for both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
