About Mr Ahmed Oliemy
Mr Ahmed Oliemy is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with more than 15 years of experience, based in Birmingham. His practice focuses on the surgical management of thoracic conditions, including lung cancer, lung collapse, chest infections, diaphragm paralysis, excessive sweating, myasthenia gravis, chest wall and airway tumours, chest wall deformities, and COPD/emphysema.
He completed his primary medical degree at Tanta University in 2005, followed by foundation and core surgical training, and obtained a Master of Science in Surgery in 2010. Between 2010 and 2019 he undertook specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery, after which he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in cardiothoracic surgery. Later in 2019, he was appointed Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
Mr Oliemy’s work is centred on thoracic (chest) surgery, with approximately 90% of his procedures performed using minimally invasive approaches, including robotic-assisted (RATS) and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). He provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic thoracic procedures for both benign and malignant conditions.
His practice includes lung-preserving anatomical resections using robotic-assisted techniques, supported by advanced imaging such as 3D lung mapping. This approach is particularly suited to early-stage lung tumours, allowing precise diagnosis and treatment through minimally invasive methods.

We started this “experience” with so much fear and unhappiness. But Mr Oliemy and his team - before surgery, during surgery hospitalisation and in follow up care, have brought reassurance, calmness and clear information. We are lucky enough to be walking away with no further treatment needed BUT if further surgery was required in the future, I know I would be in safe hands.
