About The Hormone Clinic

The Hormone Clinic, run by Dr Rachel Jones (MBBS, MRCPsych), specialises in restoring hormone balance through the use of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Their unique psychiatric approach to hormone balancing can help improve both mental health and physical symptoms related to hormone imbalance.

BHRT uses bioidentical hormones, which are structurally identical to those produced by the human body. They are associated with fewer side effects than synthetic hormones and are derived from plant sources. BHRT can be administered through creams, capsules, or lozenges. Doses can be adjusted to suit each individual, and multiple hormones can be combined as required.

The clinic treats both men and women and can help with the following conditions:

Women's Hormone Health:

  • Menopause
  • Perimenopause
  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
  • Depressive Disorder (DD)
  • Postnatal Depression (PND)
  • Hormonal Acne

Men's Hormone Health:

  • Andropause

Tests available include:

  • Blood Tests (biochemistry profile, female hormone profile, male hormone profile, thyroid profile)
  • Pelvic Ultrasound Scan
  • Mammogram
  • DEXA Scan

Treatment Schedule:

Treatment at The Hormone Clinic begins with an initial consultation, involving a discussion of medical history as well as symptoms and lifestyle. Blood tests and further investigations (if required) will then be arranged.

Once test results are available (around 10 days), a follow-up appointment will be booked to discuss the results, and a personalised hormonal treatment plan, along with any other supplements or medication, will be prescribed.

Following this, a second appointment will be arranged (6 weeks) to review the patient and make any medication adjustments or arrange for further tests. Further follow-ups will take place at 3-6 month intervals to review progress and optimise treatment.
