Ablation refers to the removal or destruction of tissue, often done using various techniques like heat, cold, radiofrequency energy, lasers, or chemicals. Cardiac Ablation procedure is used to treat heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation. It involves using energy (often radiofrequency or cryotherapy) to destroy small areas of heart tissue that are causing irregular electrical signals, which can help restore a normal heart rhythm.

After having a heart attack in a training session in the gym in 2014, and an unsuccessful surgery, Laurence came for a consultation at One Heart Clinic.

Advanced imaging refers to a set of sophisticated medical techniques used to visualize the inside of the body in great detail. These techniques go beyond standard X-rays and basic imaging methods. They utilize specialized equipment and technologies to capture highly detailed images of structures and processes within the body.

Dr Ravi Assomull is an experienced cardiologist having been appointed to his consultant post in 2012. He was recruited to Ealing Hospital by the team led by Professor Jaspal Kooner specifically to set up a cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) service. He established the service which was a unique undertaking at that time being one of the only CMR units in a district general hospital. He also specialises in coronary intervention performing coronary angiography and stent implantation. His specialist training in advanced cardiac imaging during his research period enhances his interventional practice by guiding and refining the interventional procedures he undertakes. By using these complementary skills, he ensures his patients only receive invasive therapy when there is robust evidence that they will benefit from it.

Dr Sen is an internationally recognised Interventional Cardiologist based at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. His clinical expertise encompasses both general and interventional cardiology. Dr Sen's research interests involve both first-in-man and larger multi-centre clinical trials. His research has been published in the leading medical journals and has changed clinical practice around the world.

Pacemakers are small medical devices that help regulate the heartbeat. They are used when a person's heart is beating too slowly or irregularly, a condition called bradycardia or arrhythmia. The pacemaker sends electrical signals to the heart to maintain a normal heart rate and rhythm.

Dr Fakhar Khan is a Consultant Cardiologist, with a specialist interest in the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders. He is based at the Barts Heart Centre part of St Bartholomew’s Hospital, one of the largest cardiovascular units in Europe, and at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.

He gained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 1999. Subsequent to this, he pursued his training in General Medicine and Cardiology in Oxford, London and then Cambridge, at Papworth Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital. He then furthered his training in Canada, where Dr Khan was awarded the Mirium L Burnett Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Devices in Toronto, working with some of the leading experts in the field.
