"One the most challenging things that can happen in an argument is being able to listen to our partner. It can be so hard to hear their perspective when we just want to tell them that they’re wrong and we’re right. But one of the most effective ways of managing conflict is to sit down calmly and listen to what the other person has to say and it can be incredibly hard to do this. 

The reason for this is that we are often so keen to get our own point across and to tell the other person why we’re right that we completely overlook what they’re going through. One of the most powerful tips that I can give to anybody is to sit down calmly with your partner and listen to what they’re going through because when we listen to what they’re going through we stand a much better chance of tuning into what they need and resolving the conflict completely."
