Smooth and helpful

Be mindful if you are traveling through Edinburgh or are an international resident before selecting this practice. I split my time between New York and Edinburgh for the festival seasons, and made an appointment to carry over a prescription not covered by the NHS. Because Dr Merrie did not recognize the prescription format used by my American doctor, she attempted to report me to the NHS for forgery. My NHS GP was very embarrassed to ask me about the accusation, but was legally bound to. He seemed to think she didn’t understand the level of severity and scrutiny her accusation would incur, as I had sent his practice the same prescriptions and they are in the standard format used in the US. I assumed at a well regarded GP, especially a private one, every doctor would have the advanced education to understand both international and local medicine, but to be flippant in making a serious claim - I can’t trust the ability to make sound decisions. It’s a shame, the reception staff are attentive and kind and I felt Dr Merrie was thoughtful in our sessions. But now I’d have to recommend Nuffield Health if you need help outside the NHS - I’ve had no problem at Nuffield with their understanding of international medicine, perhaps because many of them are expats too.

Excellent service from professional, friendly and knowledgeable GP for an OEUK medical. Well situated in centre of Edinburgh and breath of fresh air compared to the usual medical mercenaries that pollute Aberdeen. Five star + would definitely recommend.
